How do you prepare for nano brows in Mechelen?

Your eyebrows determine more than you think: they bring balance to your face, give your gaze more expression, and ensure you look well-groomed even without makeup. But how do you prepare for nano brows if you want a natural result that truly suits you? Proper preparation not only helps you start your treatment more comfortably but also supports calm healing and better pigment absorption.

Nano brows are fine, realistic hair strokes applied with precision. The result should look soft and refined, not harsh or overly drawn. That is why a beautiful treatment doesn't start just when you are sitting in the chair. It begins with an honest consultation, the right timing, and a few simple choices in the days leading up to it.

Start with a personal intake interview

Nano brows are not a standard treatment. The natural shape of your eyebrows, your skin type, hair color, undertone, and daily style all play a role. During a consultation, we discuss the look you have in mind, what is technically beautiful and achievable, and how subtle or visible you want the result to be.

Feel free to bring inspiration photos, but view them as a starting point rather than a fixed template. An eyebrow shape that looks beautiful on someone else might not follow your bone structure or natural hair growth. The best result is one that complements your face and looks as if it has always been a part of you.

Also be open about previous permanent makeup, brow tattoos, microblading, or laser treatments. Old pigment can affect the choice of color, technique, and shape. Sometimes nano brows are possible on top of an existing treatment, while sometimes fading or removal is wiser first. Honest advice beforehand prevents disappointment afterward.

Choose a suitable time for your appointment

Do not schedule your nano brows right before a beach vacation, a sauna weekend, or an important party where you expect a fully restored result immediately. The eyebrows need time to heal. Shortly after the treatment, the color is often more intense and the hairs may appear sharper than the final result.

In the first phase, small scabs or light flaking may occur. This is part of the healing process. After a few weeks, the color is usually lighter at first, after which it stabilizes further. Aftercare is a normal part of the process: with this, we refine color, density, and details where necessary.

Summer treatments are certainly possible, but require a little more attention regarding sun, heat, sweating, and swimming. Do you have an active vacation, a festival weekend, or a lot of sports planned? Then it is often more pleasant to schedule your appointment afterwards. Allowing sufficient margin around an important photoshoot, wedding, or other event is also advisable.

What you should avoid in the weeks before nano brows

Your skin must be as calm as possible on the day of the treatment. Intensive treatments around the eyebrow area can make the skin more sensitive or affect pigment absorption. Therefore, avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, microneedling, and strong skin-improving treatments on or near the forehead and eyebrows for approximately two to four weeks beforehand.

Are you using retinol, tretinoin, acids, or other active skincare products? Discuss this during your initial consultation. It is often necessary to temporarily discontinue the use of these products around the treated area. The exact duration depends on the product, its strength, and the sensitivity of your skin. Never stop taking prescribed medication without consulting your doctor.

It is also best to avoid sunbeds and intensive sun exposure in the weeks leading up to your appointment. Sunburned, irritated, or peeling skin is not a good basis for permanent makeup. Therefore, do not come to your appointment with sunburned skin. Protect your face daily with suitable sun protection, without trying out any new or irritating products just before the treatment.

Leave your eyebrows alone as much as possible

Do not extensively tweeze, wax, tint, or laminate just before your appointment. With nano brows, the shape is carefully drawn based on your natural eyebrow hairs and facial proportions. A natural base provides the specialist with the most information to design a balanced shape.

Do you still want to have your eyebrows waxed or tinted? If so, please do this well in advance and discuss the timing beforehand. Red, sensitive, or damaged skin around the eyebrows can make the treatment less pleasant. Also, do not pluck any hairs on the day of the treatment. The shape will be determined together with you before pigment is applied.

The 48 hours before your treatment

In the two days before your appointment, make things as easy as possible for yourself and your skin. Drink plenty of water, get enough sleep, and try not to unnecessarily fill your schedule. A relaxed body and calm skin are no guarantee of a painless treatment, but they do contribute to a more pleasant experience.

Avoid alcohol for at least 24 to 48 hours beforehand. Alcohol can increase blood flow, making your skin more prone to bleeding or fluid loss during the treatment. This can hinder pigment absorption. It is also best to avoid excessive caffeine on the day of the treatment. Are you used to drinking coffee? If so, consider drinking less than usual so that you do not feel uncomfortable by suddenly stopping completely.

Do not take blood-thinning medication, painkillers, or supplements on your own initiative. Some substances, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and certain herbal preparations, can affect bleeding. Are you taking prescribed blood thinners or do you have a medical condition? Discuss your treatment with your treating physician first and always mention this during the intake.

On the day itself: come well-groomed, but without worries.

Eat a normal meal before your appointment. On an empty stomach, you may feel lightheaded or tense more easily, especially during a treatment that lasts a bit longer. Wear comfortable clothing and do not schedule any commitments afterwards that involve heavy sweating, walking in bright sunlight, or rushing.

Preferably come without makeup on your eyebrows and forehead. A light daily makeup look on the rest of your face is fine, but a clean brow area works best. Do you normally always wear eyebrow makeup? If so, you can take a photo beforehand of how you usually fill in your brows. This will give us a good idea of what you find beautiful and comfortable.

Also be honest about your skin at that moment. Do you have a cold sore outbreak, eczema, a rash, small cuts, an allergic reaction, or do you feel unwell? Then please contact us to discuss. Sometimes rescheduling is the best choice. Safety, hygiene, and a good recovery always take precedence over speed.

When nano brows are better delayed

Not every situation is suitable for treatment. Permanent makeup is generally postponed during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Additional assessment is also required in cases of certain medical conditions, skin problems, active infections, poor wound healing, or the use of specific medication.

This does not automatically mean that nano brows are never possible for you. However, it does mean that careful advice is necessary. During an intake, we will review your situation discreetly and personally. If in doubt, we ask you to first seek permission or advice from your doctor. This thoroughness is essential for a treatment you can start with confidence.

Also prepare yourself mentally for the healing process

Anyone getting nano brows for the first time might be startled by the first few days. Initially, the color is darker and warmer than the healed result. This is followed by a phase where the eyebrows appear lighter or small flakes come loose. That is precisely why you shouldn't judge too quickly.

It is important not to scratch, pick, or touch up the area yourself during the healing process. After the treatment, you will receive clear aftercare instructions tailored to your skin and treatment. Follow these carefully and give the pigment time to set. A long-lasting, natural look requires patience, but that patience is reflected in the final result.

Ultimately, good preparation isn't about a long list of rules, but about conscious choices: protecting your skin, communicating honestly, and allowing time for recovery. At Koko Beauty Spot, we are happy to go through that preparation with you, so that you come to your appointment with peace of mind and wake up every morning with eyebrows that suit you naturally.
